Whether for a weekend or a longer stay, more and more cyclists are discovering Quebec by bike.

Become the first choice of accommodation for cyclists by obtaining the Bienvenue cyclistes! certification and offering them services adapted to their needs.

The application period for 2025 will begin on October 16, 2024 and end on April 16, 2025.

Easy-to-implement certification criteria

After a day’s cycling, tourists appreciate a place that offers them a welcome and services tailored to their needs. The criteria required for certification are simple to implement, and make all the difference.

Certification criteria

For tourist accommodation establishments

Provide touring cyclists with a pump and tools for minor repairs.

Offer information on nearby cycling networks and services for cyclists (tourist information office, repair and rental stores, luggage transport, bicycle clothing stores, food adapted to cyclists in the vicinity, status of the nearby network (work or detour), etc.) Your ATR can help you or provide you with cycling maps of your region.

Provide an enclosed, locked place to store bikes overnight (e.g. locker, room or allow bikes in bedrooms) that includes an electrical outlet.

Offer a laundry service or a solution for drying clothes (e.g. folding clothes rack, suggest suppliers who offer this service nearby).

Possibility of a one-night stay (If you require a minimum two-night booking, please clearly state this in the description of your booking form in the FIND ACCOMMODATION section).

Communicate and display the Bienvenue cyclistes! certification onsite and on your web site when applicable.

Certification criteria

For campsites

Provide a sheltered place for cyclists to eat in bad weather.

Guarantee sites on the campsite at all times, without prior reservation, when visitors travel exclusively by bike.

Provide access to an electrical outlet where cyclists can recharge their e-bikes batteries.

Offer a laundry service or a solution for drying clothes (e.g. folding clothes rack, suggest suppliers who offer this service nearby).

Possibility of a one-night stay (If you require a minimum two-night booking, please clearly state this in the description of your booking form in the FIND ACCOMMODATION section).

Communicate and display the Bienvenue cyclistes! certification onsite and on your web site when applicable.

New criteria for 2025

We’ve added new criteria to the certification for the coming year, to serve cyclists even better in your Bienvenue cyclistes! establishments.

Tourist accommodation establishments

  • Provide a closed and locked place for bicycles overnight (e.g. locker, room or allow bicycles in bedrooms) that includes an electrical outlet.
  • Offer a laundry service or a solution for drying clothes (e.g. folding clothes rack, suggest suppliers who offer this service nearby).
  • Possibility of a one-night stay (if you require a minimum two-night booking, please clearly state this in the description of your booking form in the FIND ACCOMMODATION section).
  • Communicate and display the Bienvenue cyclistes! certification onsite and on your web site when applicable.

Campsites

  • Access to an electrical outlet where cyclists can recharge their e-bike batteries
  • Offer a laundry service or a solution for drying clothes (e.g. folding clothes rack, suggest suppliers who offer this service nearby).
  • Possibility of a one-night stay (if you require a minimum two-night booking, please clearly state this in the description of your booking form in the FIND ACCOMMODATION section).
  • Communicate and display the Bienvenue cyclistes! certification onsite and on your web site when applicable.

Recommended services and equipment

In addition to the mandatory criteria, here’s a short list of non-mandatory services and equipment we recommend you implement to better welcome cyclists.

  • Manned reception
  • Be located within 5 kilometers of a bicycle network
  • Individual, secure bicycle storage solution (lockers, locked racks, etc.)
  • Bike shop (sale of essential items, e.g. inner tubes, co2 cylinders)
  • Free wifi
  • Bike lock rental
  • Luggage transportation (service offered from one accommodation to another by the establishment or a partner)
  • Luggage storage (service offered before or after a stay)
  • Long-term parking (service offered before or after a stay)
  • Swimming pool or spa
  • Bike wash station (access to outdoor hose with spray gun)
  • Packages (e.g. exclusive discounts for cyclists, multi-night discounts, local partnerships)
  • Information and promotion of local products
  • Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
  • Access to refrigerator

OFFICIAL ONLINE DIRECTORY OF CERTIFIED ACCOMMODATIONS AND CAMPSITES

By becoming a Bienvenue cyclistes! certified establishment, you benefit from the visibility offered by our online directory. The directory allows cyclists to search for accommodations and campsites according to a variety of criteria, including accommodation type, region and services offered.

Your accommodation will have its own page in this directory, where you can add photos, details and contact information to facilitate bookings. On your accommodation page, you’ll also find an interactive map showing the location of your accommodation.

Your presence in the official directory is a marketing tool of choice to help you get known by cyclists and travelers alike.

A simple and effective mobile version allows you to find accommodation even at the very last minute, when your journey has already begun.

The Route verte celebrates its 30th anniversary

In 2025, the Route verte will celebrate its 30th anniversary! To mark the occasion, a number of promotional initiatives (contests, promotional campaigns, celebration days, inclusion of the Route verte in our events, etc.) will be put in place to highlight this anniversary, as well as the importance of the Route verte in Quebec’s cycling culture.
